At Morningside Baptist Church, we are a gospel-centered, Bible-preaching church. Our beliefs are rooted in God’s Word, expressed in the historic Reformed Baptist tradition, and lived out in the life of His people.
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word. It is sufficient for all matters of faith and life, revealing God’s plan of salvation in Jesus Christ and guiding His people in holiness and worship.
We believe in one sovereign God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, wise, loving, and powerful. He creates, sustains, and governs all things according to His perfect will for His glory and the good of His people.
We believe that humanity was created in God’s image to glorify Him and enjoy fellowship with Him. By Adam’s sin, all people are born in rebellion against God, spiritually dead, and in need of redemption through Christ alone.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and perfectly fulfilled God’s law. By His substitutionary death, He bore the punishment for His people’s sins. Through His resurrection, He triumphed over sin and death, securing salvation for all whom the Father has given Him. He ascended to heaven, intercedes for His people, and will return visibly in glory.
We believe salvation is entirely of God’s grace. God elects sinners to eternal life according to His sovereign will. Christ’s death fully atones for the sins of His people. The Holy Spirit effectually calls, regenerates, and preserves believers, who are justified by faith alone, adopted into God’s family, and empowered to live in holiness.
We believe the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to the hearts of God’s people. He convicts, regenerates, indwells, sanctifies, and equips believers for godly living and faithful service.
We believe the church is the covenant community of all true believers. Local churches gather to worship God, proclaim the Word, administer baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and encourage one another in love. The church exists to glorify God, make disciples, and advance the gospel to the nations.
We believe that God calls His people to live in obedience, gratitude, and love. By the Spirit’s power, Christians grow in holiness, bear fruit for God’s glory, serve others, and proclaim the gospel faithfully in every area of life.
We believe Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to judge the living and the dead. The righteous will inherit eternal life in God’s presence, and the unrighteous will face eternal punishment. God will make all things new, and His people will enjoy unending fellowship with Him in the new heavens and new earth.
